This tire has excellent all weather traction. It is M+S rated, for mud and snow, and it performs well in severe winter conditions, both in snow and on ice.

The tire's three wide tread grooves and the lateral tread grooves also help disperse water from between the tread, effectively resisting hydroplaning. The model's O-Bead structure, a single continuous strand of cable in the tire's bead, improves uniformity. The road vibrations are lessened, as the tire follows the road surface due to its stable uniformity. The Dueler H/L 400 has exceptional steering precision due to the continuous center rib in the tread design. Its performance is increased to its maximum capability, thanks to the CO-CS (Computer Optimized Component System), which optimizes the combination of casing shape, construction, materials, and tread design. The tire offers a longer-lasting tread life, as the driving force (in other words the force of acceleration, braking, and maneuvering) is equally distributed on the road contact surface of the tread.

This allows the tire's tread to wear out evenly, elongating its life. Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years.
